Pastor Joshua and Amanda Morgan

Josh was born in Fairfax, Virginia and moved quite a bit growing up to include West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Virginia. Josh has lived in Charlottesville, Virginia since 2003 and now calls Buckingham home.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior when he was seven years old. Being raised in church, his mother and grandmother were instrumental in his spiritual formation. It was during his Senior year of high school that Josh felt the Lord directing him to prepare for full time ministry. Josh went to Liberty University but left after 3 years to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He served 6 years. After these years had passed, Josh surrendered his life to full time ministry and has not looked back. 

Josh received his B.S. and went on to receive his Master’s in Christian Ministry. Today, Josh is married to Buckingham native Amanda Palmore who is a Sweet Briar and Virginia Tech Alum working in community health. Together, they have been blessed with two beautiful daughters,  Cana Elizabeth and Sara Ruth.

  • Ashely Moss

    YOUTH MINISTER

    Ashley Moss is a native of Buckingham County. She began her walk of faith as a six-year-old when she first asked Jesus into her heart. Since then, her faith has been strengthened over the years, with her baptism as a teenager, youth group/church involvement, and her emersion in a Christian fellowship at the University of Virginia, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Psychology and Political Theory. Ashley later earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law.

    Ashley’s passion for working with children and youth began at a young age, when she began teaching children’s programs and leading church children’s activities as a teen and into adulthood. She has volunteered with the First Baptist Church of Dillwyn’s Children’s Church program since she joined the church in 2005 and began feeling called into the ministry thereafter. She became the interim Youth Minister of First Baptist Church of Dillwyn in September of 2022 and then accepted a full time position in 2023.

    Ashley is happily married to her husband of fifteen years, Cody, and they are the proud parents of Michael, Holden, Luke, Ridge, and Debi.

  • Pam Huskey

    MUSIC DIRECTOR

    Pam has sung in church choirs for years, but this is her first experience leading one. It's a big change from teaching math for 44 years! Since retirement, Pam has enjoyed the Tuesday morning Bible studies at First Baptist and is one of the adult Sunday School teachers.

  • Cody Moss

    PIANIST

    Cody Moss is originally from Buckingham, Virginia but was raised in Grand Saline, Texas. A church pianist sparked his interest in learning how to play the piano at a very young age. He began taking piano lessons at the age of 4 and continued taking lessons throughout grade school.

    He has competed in many competitions and earned numerous awards and medals over the years.

    Cody became the full time pianist for his church in Texas at the age of 10.

    Cody moved to Buckingham County in 2004 and started as the pianist at First Baptist Church of Dillwyn. He has been married to his wife, Ashley, since 2008 and has five children.
